When I was 12 years old my grandmother took me to a local bookstore. While we were there, I found the book “Forensics for Dummies” and asked if I could get it. Of course, my grandmother was terrified to buy such a “gruesome” book for me, but she bought it anyways. I was determined to study and become the best forensic investigator in the world, so much so that I read that book cover to cover in two days tops! I was determined to help solve crimes and bring justice to those who have been wronged. Now at 33 years old, I am making my inner 12-year-old proud. I am getting my bachelor’s degree in Forensic Investigations at Keiser University. I am still just as determined to help bring justice by way of collecting and documenting every piece of evidence at a crime scene. As a former Military Police Officer, I have a strong work ethic and understand law enforcement procedures. I take my training seriously, as I understand that physical evidence is key when solving a crime. My time in the Army has helped me gain respect for those ranked above me and has given me a strong work ethic. I work hard to make sure the job is done right the first time. Upon graduation, I plan to work for a local sheriff’s office where I know my drive and work ethic will make me a great asset to their team. I cannot wait to start working in a career that I have been passionate about since I was 12-years old. Oh, and I still have that Forensics for Dummies book. It’s a little outdated but it’s a reminder that if you work hard, your dreams can come true.
