Otherwise, evidence they collect may not be useable in court and they could face prosecution.A private investigator is an individual who amongst other duties (1) investigates crimes, (2) investigates the identity, business, occupation, character, etc., of a person, (3) investigates the location of lost or stolen property, (4) investigates the cause of fires, losses, accidents, damage or injury, or (5) secures evidence for use in court. Private investigators may protect persons only if such services are incidental to an investigation; they may not protect property. An individual, partnership, or corporation licensed as a private investigator may employ a qualified manager to manage the business on a day-to-day basis.

My position was responsible to control, direct, and monitor activities and movements of offenders. An employee performs various security activities and searches at internal control points; performs physical counts of offenders, including reconciling and reporting discrepancies; and performs random and specific searches and security inspections of offenders and various areas of the institution.  Employees exercise some independence in judgment while operating within standard work patterns, practices, and policies. At this level, employees are assigned lead work responsibilities in the maintenance of security in an institution or facility during assigned shift within the area of responsibility (e.g., makes assignments and coordinates lower level officer activities; trains officers to perform assigned work; monitoring duties performed to ensure completion and performance according to policies and procedures.Knowledge, skills & abilitiesIn addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the institutional facility operation. Skill in the operation of electronic surveillance and communications equipment. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Ability to evaluate situations and take appropriate courses of action.

Corrections officers maintain order and daily operations of the facility and are responsible for the care, custody, and control of inmates. I have a responsibility to control inmates who may be dangerous, and that society themselves do not wish to accommodate or cannot accommodate . This officer always prevents disturbances, assaults, and escapes by supervising activities and work assignments of inmates. I have a responsibility to protect themselves, other officers, inmates, and the public from assault by other inmates. As a Correctional Officer I am duty bound to also protect inmates from harming themselves or committing suicide. Key skills include being alert and aware of any and all movement taking place inside the facility, understanding radio traffic, being able to perform essential functions, and being able to communicate effectively with all those around me.
