During my time at IDC I was responsible for merging medical coding and billing into one department, implementing new coding guidelines, keeping up to date on all government and insurance requirements for Meaningful Use and Physician Quality Reporting System and managing all software updates including the implementation of two HL7 interfaces. I had direct supervision of 9 staff, including two remote employees. Fostering effective communication both within our department as well as with all departments was a vital mission in my role. Training staff on new processes and better, more efficient workflows was also key to improving functionality.In preparation for the implementation of ICD-10 on October 1, 2015, I orchestrated weekly meetings beginning in May with all coding staff to practice coding real scenarios in ICD-10 as compared to ICD-9. This helped provide a smoother transition to ICD-10, with minimal rejections due to invalid coding. It also provided a boost of confidence to the coding team that ICD-10 could be conquered. These meetings produced cheat sheets for the most common diagnosis as well as details required to meet the new coding guidelines.Additionally, I was responsible for working with staff to ensure proper use of the EHR to meet the requirements for Meaningful Use and PQRS throughout the year. In 2015 and 2016, I successfully submitted attestation for Meaningful Use and PQRS for 6 physicians and PQRS data for 3 physician assistants in 2015 and 2 physician assistants in 2016.Finally, as part of quality measures and continued implementation of Meaningful Use, I worked directly with Pulse Systems EHR and the Kansas Health Information Network (KHIN) teams to successfully implement immunization and private health information HL7 interfaces. This required researching and comparing test data with the actual data, reporting findings and multiple conference calls to identify errors and correct data.

During my time at Pulse Systems, I began in Software Support before moving into Professional Services which included both Implementation and Project Management. As a Senior Implementation Specialist, I was responsible for completing workflow discovery and administration training for new clients, performing analysis of workflow, software utilization, A/R balances followed by targeted, specific training for existing clients, coordinating conversions of legacy data including patient demographics, appointments and EHR documentation into a SQL database, and conducting additional training for existing clients including Billing Office Workflow, Month Close, Claims Management, Collections. I also prepared brief, step by step instructional handouts for clients.While in the role of Project Manager, I managed more than 15 projects ranging from additional training to full Practice Management and/or EHR implementations, managed project risks, timelines and contract deliverables, oversaw six server migrations from local client servers to Pulse ASP servers, facilitated effective communication between clients and necessary personnel to ensure successful project completions.As an Implementation Specialist I successfully completed 14 full Practice Management implementations and 4 EHR implementations, provided onsite support during Go Lives for additional projects, trained physicians, administrators, office staff and clinical staff and facilitated client transition to Software Support.
