As a Child and Youth Program Assistant at the CDC, responsibilities can include providing a secure, optimistic, and nurturing care that is educational and recreational for the children between the ages of six weeks to five years old. Working as a team, an environment that is caring, knowledgeable, and professional is a must in implementing a methodologically advanced plan that is developmentally appropriate and reactive to the unique needs, capabilities, and interests of the children. Having interactions with the children that are respectful and understanding give a sense of independence, trust, and responsibility. Respecting each family whether it is their ideals, cultures, or values comes as a number one priority in taking care of the children. Major responsibilities which can be broken down into specific categories can include, but are not limited to, curriculum, indoor/outdoor environment, interactions and relationships, supervision of children and youth, parent and employee communication, assessment, compliance, and additional responsibilities by upper management.
