About Nicole Wait
Welcome to my new chapter: a career pivot from education to sustainability and the screen sector! My life has been full of adventure and foreign lands: I have lived in the UK, France, Belgium, Malawi, Zambia, Thailand, Bahrain and Panama. I spent 10 years in education, beginning as a primary teacher in Devonian schools and culminating in opening a new international school in Panama City as a full principal. I loved the people, the cultures, the languages, the ways of life, the landscapes, the challenges and the learning. Living abroad made me more resilient, more creative and more eager to grow; it catapulted me way beyond where I thought my borders lay and taught me never to contain my potential. I returned to the UK in the summer of 2023, intent on reconnecting with the seasons, woodlands, mountains and coastlines I yearned for whilst living abroad. I completed environmental management and assessment training with IEMA and participated in Wales’ first sustainability coordinator training for TV and film. My focus is to work actively to alleviate the climate emergency. The screen sector has historically acted with little thought of our planet, yet it includes many professionals who care deeply about the environment but don’t yet have the skills to align their work with their values. It is clear that there is already significant innovation and willing towards greening the screen; now it’s time to join together to have a ripple out effect into our communities and further afield. So welcome again! Let’s connect and live in a way that better honours our planet and nourishes our souls. I look forward to collaborating with you.
