Senior Legal Counsel, North America
CurrentOVERVIEW:Brought on board to assist in starting up the North American operations for a company specializing in design, manufacturing, and commercialization of EV charging solutions. Ensure the U.S. entity adheres to all regulations regarding EV charger manufacturing, employment laws, and localizing/negotiating contracts for the U.S. market.Provide input on the overarching organizational strategy and goals as a member of the North American Leadership Team. Supervise a Legal Counsel and report to the global General Counsel as the highest-ranking Legal Counsel in N.A. Lead the development and execution of the North American Legal Department strategy planning and goal setting processes, as well as contributing to the global legal strategy.HIGHLIGHTS:☑ Contributed to the successful entity creation and launch in the North American market. Provided valuable support on business formation, corporate governance, and the development of metrics to ensure compliance with federal regulations (NEVI, IRA, BIL, USDOT, Anti-Kickback, Anti-Bribery, others), HR laws (FLSA, ADA, EEOC, FMLA), Buy America, and competition laws.☑ Negotiated ~130+ business agreements to date, including contracts, RFPs, NDAs, and Supplier T&Cs. Localized global contracts and the business strategy in the U.S. and Canadian markets, along with implementing HR policies and an Employee Handbook to comply with U.S. regulations.☑ Created and instituted contract management processes (reduced contract lifecycle by ~4 weeks), along with implementing contract storage software and business resources for internal stakeholders.
