Senior Research Associate

Develop and validate bioanalytical methods according to current FDA regulations and departmental SOPs for potential small molecule drugs candidates.Complete analysis of clinical biological samples in various matrices within a given time-line in a GLP environment using various sample preparation techniques and analysis by LC/MS/MS. Work closely with colleagues on more complex assays and troubleshooting instrumentation. Train and mentor contractors, graduate and undergraduate interns to ensure proper training in good laboratory techniques, theory and instrumentation while giving them valuable work experience. Maintain the operation of the cell processing lab used to isolate the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC's) from whole blood. Improved previous cell processing method to save time, money, give cleaner blank matrix and a more user friendly method. Evaluate and give input about clinical protocols for sample collection and processing of PBMCs to ensure that best sample quality possible is received to have more reliable data. Develop and implement an in-house automated cell counting method using DNA florescence tagging for study samples, eliminating human error in cell counts from clinical samples. Improve the LC/MS/MS method for intracellular triphosphate levels by removing the need for ion pairing modifiers from mobile phase and more intense sample preparation method to eliminate the effects of poor sample processing by clinics, leading to more reliable data.Write, issue, and review important documents such as notebooks, analytical methods, validation reports, sample analysis reports, study investigations and SOPs to ensure quality, accuracy and current with industry standards.Give oral presentations within our department and organization about relevant research projects.
