We formed Every shelter, a Houston-based non-profit, to design and deliver life-saving shelter products with and for refugees, seeking to reshape the global refugee-aid system around refugees as market participants. In close collaboration with my co-founders, we developed and implemented a strategic plan that grew the organization from a start-up concept to a fully funded, donor-supported non-profit organization with nine paid staff and projects serving more than 30,000 displaced people. From my central location in the MENA region, I established new partnerships and remotely managed our multicultural programs team to create and implement pilot projects in Uganda, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

Our organization was contracted by the American Soybean Association for its Soybeans in Agricultural Renewal of Afghanistan Initiative, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, to collaborate with Afghan partners in the construction and operation of Afghanistan's first ever commercial soy processing facility. As Office Manager and Security Officer, I coordinated logistics and travel for expatriate contractors and developed extensive safety protocols for all staff. I served as delegate to the Afghanistan NGO Security Organization to monitor regional and country-wide security threats.In my spare time, I volunteered with Afghans for Progressive Thinking to establish and train our city’s first ever university debate teams and tournaments. I also taught weekly health and literacy classes in women’s prisons.
