This was my first "real" employment out of university.I was employed as a Case Manager in a adolescent residential house working with displaced and at risk youths. I was very young myself and many of the clients had more life experience than me.I worked along side social workers to deliver positive outcomes for our clients.I would work with government departments such as (former) Child Protection, and Legal. Negotiation skills were learned quickly as I had to work with extended family members and the young people in the house.My learning curve was vertical! Unfortunately I was one of the many who burned out in the usual two year period due to the nature of the work.
