I studied plant biotechnology and minored in agriculture & food systems at the Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences where I became most interested in working with and learning more about genetic plant improvements and the applications of natural plant products. Documented and planted selected variant seeds in research greenhouse. - Designed a rapid quantitative assay to measure glucosinolate levels in arugula seeds and cross-compared results to LCMS results to check for assay efficacy. Project 2: Development of collagen and M. oleifera albumin infused biomaterial with indications in wound-healing and skin aging. - Optimized 2S albumin extraction protocols from seeds and cultured fibroblasts for various biocompatibility assays.- Investigated chitosan as an alternative to animal-based collagen for the 2S albumin infused biomaterial and presented work at the 2021 Project SUPER Research Symposium. Project 3: Performed sinapoyl malate extractions from various Brassicae seeds for UV-B blocking applications. Monitored yield and adjusted extraction protocols accordingly.
