Fulfilled three consecutive terms as a member of the Board for the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), which serves over 1,200 members of the ACC within Northern and Central New Jersey. The ACC is the world’s largest community of in-house counsel, serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, and other private-sector organizations around the globe. I continue to co-lead the Litigation Roundtable series for our chapter, and serve as a member of the Women in the House (WITH) Committee as well as the Board of Advisors. I previously served on the Executive Board, Nominating Committee, and also chaired the ACCNJ's Sponsorship, WITH, and Diversity Committees during my tenure.

I led the Litigation and Investigations function globally for Spectrum Brands (NYSE: SPB), a Fortune 500 $5B business, handling filed actions, consumer claims, and pre-litigation disputes, and advising the company's C-suite and Division GCs on the multifaceted risk landscape. I provided regular updates to the Board of Directors, senior leadership, and auditors, as well as strengthened our CPSC compliance program. Spectrum Brands’ global business units included Hardware & Home Improvement, Pet Care, Home & Garden, Appliances, Auto Care, and Batteries divisions (the latter two of which were divested to Energizer during my tenure).

I led the Litigation function for the Unilever (NYSE: UL) U.S. business ($8.5 billion), which included diversified categories of Personal Care, Prestige Beauty, Ice Cream, Foods & Refreshment, and Spreads. During that time, I launched and co-chaired the company's inaugural Global Litigation Initiative, supervised the Records Management team, coordinated the cross-functional group of Data Retention champions in consultation with the Chief Privacy Officer, and spearheaded the Global Electronic Discovery Steering Committee. I also served as an executive Mentorship Circle Leader for the internal GALvanize Women and Diversity Initiative.

Honored to have led the association for the approximately 2,000 Harvard Law School alumni who work and/or live in New Jersey for my two-year term, hosting then-U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Paul Fishman and the Hon. Joseph Greenaway, Jr. as our speakers at the annual Vanderbilt Lectures. Prior to taking the reins, I also served on the Executive Board for the organization, which worked closely with the Alumni Office in Cambridge, MA to provide a range of other networking opportunities to our alumni.

I rose through the ranks as an associate and counsel to become an equity partner (the 8th woman to be elevated to partner at the firm) for more than ten years, overseeing a robust litigation portfolio and serving as a practice group leader within the Class Actions and Business Litigation teams and co-chair of the Appellate Practice Group. I also served as Chair of the Diversity Initiatives Committee and Women's Initiative (from 2006-2015), as well as a member of the firm's Operating Committee, Associate and Counsel Development Committee, and co-led the Litigation Task Force on Electronic Discovery. In addition, I helped frame and launch the firm’s Peer-to-Peer mentoring program, while more informally mentoring many junior associates throughout their time at LS.

I proudly clerked for the first woman appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court, Justice Marie L. Garibaldi, who also served as the first female president of the NJ State Bar Association when she was in private practice. She was also a classmate of Ruth Bader Ginsburg as part of the graduating class at Columbia Law School ‘59, which included only 12 women out of 250 students. A pioneer in so many ways, “the Justice” (as her clerks called her), served as a pivotal role model in the law for me until she passed away in 2016.

During my 2L and 3L years, I found a home in law school as part of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, one of the three honors societies (alongside the Harvard Law Review and the Board of Student Advisers). HLAB is a student-run civil legal aid organization committed to providing free representation to low-income and marginalized communities in the Greater Boston area. Students and staff aim to provide these services in a way that responds to the systemic racial, social, and economic inequalities that are the causes and consequences of poverty. To that end, the Bureau trains its student attorneys to advocate vigorously for their clients, create enduring community partnerships, and become socially conscious leaders. Direct representation is permitted pursuant to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:03. In my 3L year, I served as Vice President of the Board of Directors (a student-elected group responsible for the development and implementation of policies for the Bureau’s administration and practice) and focused my docket on family law cases. Under the guidance of a clinical instructor, I litigated my very first trial to determine child custody and visitation issues (including the presentation of expert testimony by the appointed guardian ad litem) in Massachusetts Probate and Family Court.

I interned with the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Unit (SODV) at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Columbia during my 3L Winter Term, supporting investigations and prosecutions in the unit — culminating in my 3L Written Work Requirement focused on working with child witnesses (under the guidance of Professor and former HLS Dean James Vorenberg).
