Serves as a Staff Administrative Assistant for a battalion,hospital,or training brigade/group, or other comparable Reserve activity which has a headquarters element and subordinate units. The responsibilities assigned include administrative and personnel support operations which relate to the maintenance of personnel records, processing of all personnel actions, military correspondence, maintenance of files, records disposition, and similar matters. This position serves as the functional expert in four Army specialties: Military Personnel Strength Management; Military Personnel Info Management; Military Personnel Service Management; Military Personnel Data Base Management. Advises the Commander, Supervisory Staff Administrator (SSA), and staff on administrative matters. Provides administrative expertise and assists the staff, lateral and/or subordinate units in formulating estimates, plans, orders and reports. Exercises staff level authority and provides technical guidance for administrative activities and personnel engaged in these functional areas within the organization. Conducts periodic staff inspections of subordinate units to insure compliance with administrative regulations, mobilization readiness, and procedures. Provides assistance and guidance on day-to-day office management procedures as necessary. Maintains liaison with higher headquarters on matters relating to administrative functions and operations, assuring compliance with directives. Reviews administrative and military personnel related correspondence submitted by the command or its subordinate units for transmission to higher headquarters. Maintains suspense log of recurring and one time reports and insures that designated units and staff sections submit them on time. Consolidates reports and prepares summarizing or explanatory correspondence. Ensures that reports are prepared in proper format and contain required information to assure accuracy and quality of administrative and personnel actions.
