I am Nikki Emily. I am a Saskatchewan Polytechnic graphic communications student and graphic designer with a focus on illustration. I also have a BA in Media, Arts, and Performance, a TESOL certificate, and I am working towards a TESOL diploma. I have always been drawing, and creating stories, and I love the idea of creating stories that relate to people. Making creatives and designs that bring people joy or entertain them in some way is one of my greatest joys in life. By bringing a little joy to the lives of those around me, I can give a little back to people who have done so much for me, and it's something I want to share beyond my circle of people. My long-term goal is to write and illustrate my own comics and graphic novels.Thanks to my previous experiences in customer service, I have a lot of experience managing communication. Customer service has helped me work on understanding others, understanding their needs and determining if certain products are right or wrong for them and their interests. Reading body language to see if they need help, if they're talking on the phone or with someone else, wait to see if they need help. And when they ask about products, I know what to ask for the best, most efficient service I can provide.Working in TESOL has also forced me to work on my communication when speaking to others. Those jobs and volunteer experiences require me to make my points as clear as possible to someone who may not even have a good grasp of my native language while I may have zero knowledge of theirs. It forces me to work on my word choices and explanations, being concise and understandable without being condescending or judgemental over people's skill levels.
