As the digital manager, my responsibilities include, but are not limited to, strategy, design, creation, implementation, management, reporting and training on all projects in the digital space.I work in a small team of creatives, ensuring that each of our clients’ digital projects is completed on time, within budget and to the highest standard. My work in the digital space requires a clear understanding of the consumer and how media is used online. A large part of my role is assessing the needs of clients‘ customers and creating online and mobile solutions to suit their needs while ensuring that the product or service is well-represented and best-practices are followed. I am involved in the hands-on in design, development, content, strategy and training for my projects

I am a regular writer and contributor for the Small Business Forum, a company that aims to develop and promote SMEs in South Africa. I contribute articles and media that focus on growth, development and marketing, with the goal to help educate small businesses. I hope to give them to the tools they need to grow and flourish, specifically in my area of expertise which includes online marketing and social media.

Kiron Interactive is an online software development company that is recognised for pioneering the virtual sports industry, specifically virtual horse racing. The flagship virtual horseracing product, Turfmaster, is played by thousands of people across the world. My role in Kiron Interactive was to manage online promotions, and affiliate partners, as well as to build a social media strategy for the business, based on my previous experience in social media. I quickly learned to manage multiple projects simultaneously, as well as create promotions around a product of which I knew very little about. This was invaluable in my experience of online marketing, tackling problems in an industry that I had absolutely no experience in. Other responsibilities in the position included comprehensive reporting and statistics on campaigns as well as website roadblock analysis. CRM initiatives included writing and building of mailers and surveys to assess member satisfaction and to encourage greater spend.

Thumb Media was an outsourced copywriting and online media and marketing company. Our clients included companies such as Primedia Outdoor, Primedia Face 2 Face, Mango Airlines, Siyandza Verge Mangagement, Red Mango, and more. As with many small businesses in which one wears many hats, my focus within Thumb Media extended from copywriting and web and digital development, to newsletter marketing, social media, ad trafficking and client management. It was also my responsibility to ensure absolute understanding of all aspects of digital business and to keep abreast of new online trends and markets. Copywriting included web and extensive SEO copy, alongside press releases (digital and print), advertorial copy, social media writing and editing the work of other writers. I developed a number of blogs and websites for clients using Wordpress, including the Mango Airlines blog (www.flymangonews.co.za). I pioneered the business’ social media division, developing extensive social media strategies and creating a social media presence for clients on all of the relevant platforms. Campaigns included development and management of social networks, as well as training for a number of clients to educate them on social media. My role included extensive work with outsourced companies, supplying writing, development and social strategies for their clients and learning their skills in the process.

Writing and editing features for Joburg.co.za weekly newsletter (217 000 subscriber base) and ensuring clients’ satisfaction with copy and editorial. Editing and proofing of Joburg.co.za, Durbs.co.za and Cape.Town.co.za weekly newsletters. Proofing and editing The Citizen newspaper’s CitiGuides, as well as all press releases and sales specials. Layout and design for all three newsletters, and ensuring newsletters and other mailers are sent out according to deadline. Conceptualising and implementing new design and editorial ideas, including dedicated mailers. I was involved in the conceptualisation, design and development of the new websites for all three properties, a responsibility which included researching and keeping up to date with online industry trends.
