I currently serve as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Indian Cancer Foundation, where we imagine a world where cancer is no longer the leading cause of death for American Indians and Alaska Natives. Through hard work, culturally appropriate community-based programs, and policy change that affords Native people access to the best prevention and treatment strategies, we see a day where American Indian communities are free of the burdens of cancer.

I was elected to the Board of Directors for two terms from 2018-2024. It was an honor to earn the faith, trust, and responsibility of serving on this body through a vote of the Sealaska shareholders. I was humbled and excited to serve my Alaska Native Corporation shareholder owners in this role, to help drive success for the company, and increase opportunities for our shareholders.

I worked for the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), the oldest, largest and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization in the country. NCAI advocates on behalf of tribal governments and communities, promoting strong tribal-federal policies, and a better understanding among the general public regarding Native governments, people, and rights.As director of operations I enhanced the organization and infrastructure necessary for NCAI's continued growth and success, and was charged with the management of organizational performance. This included effective program management processes and communications; ensuring alignment of priorities at various organizational levels; expanding the capacity of staff through professional development and internal networks; cultivating new and existing relationships with funders and partners; liaising and reporting to the board of directors as needed; and representing NCAI to external constituency groups including community, governmental, and international organizations and to sovereign tribal leaders.

From 2011-2015 I was the volunteer President and Board Chair of Cancer Connection, a non-profit resource agency in Juneau, Alaska. Cancer Connection's mission is to bring together health and wellness resources for cancer patients residing in Southeast Alaska. They work to empower them to make sound decisions and choices with the goal of prolonging their quality of life, whether in time of crisis or recovery. I served as a member of the volunteer board of Cancer Connection from 2008-2015. I steered profit and loss responsibility for fund raising and programs, managed real estate holdings and travel funds, and conducted community outreach and awareness events throughout the southeast region of the state. I also collaborated with regional fundraisers and health care agencies to assist people living with cancer, their families, and support systems. As President I represented Cancer Connection at the community, state and federal levels and as Board Chair, I was responsible for governance and compliance of the organization. During my leadership tenure, Cancer Connection experienced 18% growth in contributions, allowing for expansion of critical services and programs.

I was an officer and member of the leadership team of Sealaska Corporation from 2003-2014. As vice president I worked with the management team to create a unified vision for Sealaska, and to set and execute on strategic and operating plans. My scope and responsibilities including serving as the corporate secretary at headquarters and of the company's many subsidiary boards, including international operations, and vice president with oversight of human resources, communications, shareholder relations, records management, compliance and governance. Working with other organizational human resources managers, we steadily improved internal communications and staff development. I oversaw communications to stakeholders including the company's 22,000+ shareholders, as well as business partners, the public, industry agents, and government representatives. As a C-suite collaborator, I helped drive a 19% reduction in the operating budget and a increase in production of my direct departments during a critical restructuring of the corporation starting in 2012.

I provided administrative support to the grants awarded by the Markle Foundation, a private family philanthropy located in New York City. Markle provided grant funds to programs specializing in Information Technology solutions in the fields of health care and national security. I communicated with grant recipients on contracts, deliverables and tranched program payments; created continuous improvement within the client management database; created grants and compliance reports for executive leadership and the board of directors; and liaised with community, state, national and international grant partners including the United Nations Development Programme.
