About Nicole Herbots, I.R., Phd Ucl

N. Herbots leads R&D teams to develop innovative medical devices and new semiconductor heterotructrurers for sensors. She focuses on design via computational models and mechanisms for device processing & Surface Energy Engineering at ASU while at SiO2 Innovates LLC, AccuAngle Analytics LLC, MicroDrop Diagnostics, LLC, the focus is on prototyping, testing and small scale mfg working directly with end-users.She was inducted Inducted Member of the National Academy of Inventors in 2018 .Her licensed patents include ordered silicon oxides, SiGeO2, oxides of GaAs, and SiGeC with US/WIPO pat #7,851,365, granted 12/14/10 , # 6,613,677, granted 9/2/03, and wafer bonding via NanoBonding™, a technology she developed and patented via # 9589801, granted 3/7/1, and # 9018077, granted 4/28/15. In the medical field, she developed a bio-compatible,,benign anti-fog such as VitreOx™ for surgical lenses, and FogKnox. She developed scar preventative coating for medical implants such as cardiac pace makers, brain and cardiac electrodes, and shunts , called ProteinKnox™. The applications include not only medical implants, but stents, and ports. She developed blood evacuating optical films for medical lenses and tools, HemoClear™, a sterile optical coating ClearEndoscope™ to eliminate fogging specifically on complex surfaces such as endoscopes and surgical camera lenses. All are either patented, or patent pending. Her most recent technologies lay at the boundary of materials physics, biology & electronics. Her new device, InnovaStrip, using HemaDrop™ coating is a Fast, Accurate (Better than 10%) whole blood Small Volume Diagnostics tool patented by SiO2 Innovates LLC and manufactured by MicroDrop Diagnostics LLC. It creates Homogeneous Thin Solid Films (HTSF) from a few microliters of blood for analysis. We have also discovered how to bond below 200°C Si or silica, silicates, n-GaAs and p-GaAs, LiTaO3 and LiNbO3 by nucleating precursor 2D nano- phases and bonding SilOxSi™ nanophases, a class of new materials we call "interphase" to contrast with the geometrical concept of interface. We call silicate-based interphase NanoOxides™Specialties: Research, Patent, Technology, Technology Transfer, Science Education, Training, Wafer Bonding, Si, Silica, GaAs, Medical Electronics, Surgical Lenses, Educational Seminar, IOL, Vacuum, Semiconductor, Langmuir-Blodgett, epitaxy, heteroepitaxy, thin films, coatings, emulsion, cataract, medical products, surgical aid, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, night vision

MicroDrop Diagnostics tests and develops small volume, rapid Blood Diagnostics technologies called HemaDrop™, DropFilmStrip™ and TriCorderAnalyzer™ . These new, patent-pending technologies can collect microliter-sized blood drops from patients and solidifies them rapidly on into uniform thin SOLID films called HTSF on analytical strips. These uniform thin solid films can be rapidly analyzed on site at bedside, in the doctor office, in the OR or in the field within minutes using a hand-held analyzer. Our first diagnostics application are blood electrolytes and blood metals levels such as Iron to detect anemia

Sio2 Nanotech Associates, Business Partnership

I initiated in 2004 SIO2 NanoTech Associates, a Business Partnership, first with my graduate students, & colleagues in academia & industry. In January 2013, I incorporated SiO2 NanoTech LLC with my business partner, co-founder & CEO Clarizza Watson, where I am CSO, The need for SiO2 NanoTech LLC arose from drastic changes in R&D, technology transfer & engineering in the early 2000's that led to just-in-time hiring practices, sub-contracting & outsourcing of "laboratory to factory" innovations. We focus on nanotechnology transfer from our "Lab to (your) Fab" in applications that require to be particulate-free (NanoBonding), engineered surfaces for solar panels or electronics (EpOxides™, Nano-Oxides™), bio-medical applications - VitreOx™ for inhibiting fogging on laparoscopic lenses, medical implant surfaces, and other non-medical optical lenses and goggles. We devised ProteinKnox™ to control the effect of absorption of blood, blood proteins and tissue build-up on lenses and medical implants. Another of our technologies, FogKnox™ is a permanent, molecular-based control of fogging on vision-wear surfaces, where compatibility with eye tissues is important, such as protective and high performance sport eyewear where fumes and bodily fluids can create an irritating environment for the wearer.

Sio2 Associates - Innovative Technology For Oxide Nanophases And Encapsulation Bonding

I am an inventor. Despite - actually motivated - by being orthopedically & neurologically disabled due to my being run-over by a truck in May 1994 while riding my bike en route to my lab at ASU, I lead my research group in the discovery and developement of new bio-compatible, Si-compatible nano-materials and their low temperature synthesis & processing. This includes NanoOxides™, NanoBonding™, and silicate interphases nucleated below 200°C. With the input of my research & engineering team, I identify potential licensees, and focus our technology transfers on specific areas of national need, such as bio-medical implantable single devices and high efficiency, extended longevity photovoltaic components, in consultation with industry.

Volunteer Assistant/Lead Teacher For Family Bible Study

Olmc Parish

With 5 aid catechists - given my physical disability - I lead & organize an interactive learning study for large & small families, including toddler, school children, teens, parents, & grand-parents. The class is diverse in ethnic, religious & educational background. I prepare interactive classes where families work as team, drawing from each member's ability, helping each other, & using all 5 modes of learning (visual, tactile, reading, writing and acting/public speaking) to engage families in a lively discussion in religious education topics and gospel stories. I create the meeting outline and structure, materials and activites, plays, & questions to be addressed using a variety of multimedia & technology; web resources, internet activities, movies and videos clips, natural materials, art, prints, reading, singing, play acting and puppets by the participants. I manage adul3t & 2 teen aids in setting up the environment & the materials, & facilitate discussions and activities..
