Research area: 1) Electronic sensor (Pasteur project, european project): Fabrication of an ethylene sensor as part of a multifunctional sensor for the monitoring of fruit and vegetables during transport and storage.2) Optical sensors: Fabrication of optical sensors by cholesteric liquid crystals for quality control of pharmaceutical or food products.

Research topic: Orthogonal surface reaction schemes on nano-and microstructured surfacesDescription: Surface patterning and local activation (methods: photolithography, latex bead projection patterning and electro-oxidation) is employed to structure surfaces at different dimensional ranges (nm to mm). The use of functional monolayers, selectively deposited on the modified/activated surface sites, will allow the sensibilization of the structures. The use of suitable, compatible modification schemes for the preparation of multifunctional surfaces is the goal of this research project. Equipment: AFM, inkjet printer, MALDI-TOF MS (responsible person), XPS and FTIR are utilized.
