About Nicole Hoffner, Phd
Nicole Hoffner, Phd is a Product Management • Antibodies & Immunoassays at Aviva Systems Biology. She possess expertise in cell culture, molecular biology, pcr, western blotting, fluorescence microscopy and 12 more skills. Colleagues describe her as "I had the honor of working with Nicole from 2019 to 2021. She was my supervising graduate student at the Gentry Patrick Lab (UCSD), while I was an undergraduate volunteer. I highly admire and respect Nicole for her ability to provide guidance and also growth for myself. She was extremely detailed-orientated with instructions and explanations behind the theory of the procedures. I grew as a researcher and intuitive thinker, constantly being tasked to present and understand new experiments for her work. I highly recommend her for any leadership and mentorship position." and "I had the pleasure of appointing Nicole as my Professional Development Coordinator for two years during my time as Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Graduate Student Association (GSA). During that time, Nicole was tasked with organizing monthly professional development events for graduate students to show them roles both within and outside academia that veered away from traditional faculty jobs. This role necessitated the coordination of multiple internal and external organizations, finding and recruiting speakers, attending and coordinating committee meetings, planning and organizing large scale events with a hundred plus people, and finally advertising and communicating these events to our ten thousand strong graduate body at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) . She demonstrated keen project management skills by organizing the workflow for our events to make it a repeatable process that could easily transfer to incoming elected officers and their appointees of the GSA (graduate representative government at UCSD). She also remained on top of this process while juggling advancement to candidacy which I see a Herculean effort that shows her ability to manage time and responsibilities in fast changing environments. Interpersonal She demonstrated strong communication skills by getting record turn out at our our events with clever online and email marketing, as well as maintained a constant flow of information between all organizational bodies involved for these large scale events on campus (Career Center, GSA, Extension, Housing and Dining Services, Facilities Management, Police Department). She also demonstrated strong interpersonal skills by listening to the student body and what they needed but also taking into account underrepresented voices within our professional development course. Prior years, and in general at UCSD, concentrated on STEM positions at FAANG companies for those working on STEM degrees. This left out arts and humanities and social sciences to a degree as well. Nicole made it an objective to hear out students from those programs to push for and include multiple speakers across career panels and talks that came from similar arts/humanities backgrounds and what they did outside of academia. This helped boost our attendance, and was one of the highly reviewed aspects of our events. I highly recommend Nicole for her stated abilities and beyond. Any organization is lucky to have her."
Listed skills include Cell Culture, Molecular Biology, Pcr, Western Blotting, and 13 others.
