Project: “Ariba Essentials for Public Sector Procurement”, a stand-alone, self-paced digital learning experience for new Procurement Specialists. Included the design and development of curriculum, learning plan, and participant workbook, as well as scripting and recording over 65 instructional videos and screencasts. It also included designing, animating, and narrating an explainer video about SAP Ariba in the context of the Nova Scotia government. Each learning plan in the pilot ends in a multiple-choice assignment with instant feedback, preparing them for the final assessment. As with all learning development, there are thoughtful applications of accessibility, privacy policy, and research-based pedagogy. This science methods course for secondary school teachers includes topics such as one- and two-factor experimentation in a classroom, unit planning, problem-based learning, cross-curricular integration, constructivism, instructional strategies, field trips, science and the community.

This post-graduate course for pre-service teachers advances middle and senior high school science teaching through an in-depth exploration of instructional strategies that reflect the nature of science and connect science classrooms back to the community. Topics include engaging students in a true scientific process, inquiry-based approaches, constructivism, and problem-based learning in science teaching. (Fall 2005, 2007 and 2015)

This integrated science course for pre-service elementary and middle school science teachers is a unique blend of scientific processes and content. Students build a solid understanding of the scientific method first hand while exploring themes of energy and change over time. Topics include experimental design, observation, models, indicators, safety, and peer review.

This introduction to teaching science builds a toolbox of instructional strategies as the course progresses. Each class students experience a new strategy and then apply that strategy to a specific middle or high school curriculum document. Education topics include real-world context, lesson plans, inquiry, modifying labs, constructivist approach, testing higher-level thinking, discrepant events, problem-based learning, and technology. Includes a field trip to Dalhousie University's Planetarium.

Sprout developed the curriculum for a proposed apiary course at the NSCC. This involved defining, through extensive research and stakeholders consultations, what knowledge, skills, and values future apiarists should possess. The curriculum represents the diversity of beekeeping methods in the Maritime provinces while at the same time offering outcomes that have the potential to produce students who are competitive worldwide. Both organic and integrated pest management approaches were incorporated into expected learning outcomes.
