Responsible for:- monitoring and improving undergraduate student retention and reporting on key performance indicators related to retention. - providing oversight and supervision to the Office of Undergraduate Retention, Office of First-Year Experience and to Academic Advisors and Retention Specialists in each academic college. - maintaining Early Alert system, processes and training. Includes a year of supervising ten team members remotely.- developing, implementing, and maintaining training program for staff to keep up-to-date on advising tools and procedures, academic programs, student services and academic policies. - maintaining reports on leading indicators related to retention, including, but not limited to: satisfactory academic progress, registration, financial aid/FAFSA completion, billing and housing for all undergraduate students. - analyzing advising and retention data to then create and implement new retention-related programming, policies and procedures. -providing support to advisors and students through intervention for at-risk students.Additionally-- served as staff advisor to National Society of Collegiate Scholars- an honors society for undergraduate students of any major and co-advisor to National Society of Leadership & Success.

Over eight years, taught 19 sections of UNV 1010: Transitions to Higher Education course (one-credit first-year seminar course required for all first-year students) which is most often connected to one or two other courses in a learning community.

Responsible for: - coordinated new student orientation programming for first-year, transfer, adult and international students- coordinated learning communities by working with faculty and administrative offices to create groupings of courses for each Fall based on projected enrollment- developed programs for first-year students and evaluating their effectiveness, and other programming to aid first-year students in their transition to college- maintained first-year seminar curriculum in addition to selecting and training instructors- coordinated service learning projects for all sections of freshman seminar courses including providing an orientation of the concepts of service learning, maintaining relationships with community partners, and all logistics- advocated for first-year students to ensure they are receiving the resources needed to successfully achieve their goals while a student at the university.- created (2011) and maintained First-Year Experience Peer Mentor program which develops student leaders who in turn assist at events put on by the office. Included selection, training, and continued development of students throughout their time in the program. - management of the College Student Inventory survey and distribution of results to staff and faculty who meet with the students- supervised undergraduate student employees including training, development, goal setting, event planning and recognition

All responsibilities can be traced to helping first-year students have a successful transition to higher education and continuing along that path. Included: coordinating New Student Orientation during the summer months, coordinating learning communities for all first-year students, assisting with workshops for faculty that work with first-year students, coordinating service learning projects for freshman seminar courses, and coordinating Peer Mentor program which includes recruitment, training and supervision. Additionally, advised two student organizations: (1) student volunteering group affiliated with the United Way which involves attending Alternative Spring Break each year; (2) National Society of Collegiate Scholars honors society.

Responsible for coordinating service learning projects for multiple sections of first-year seminar courses, helping first-year students transition to college, advising student mentoring group called the SCOPE (Students Creating Opportunities to Promote Education) Club that works to promote college access among youth in the Metro-Detroit area, promoting various community service initiatives especially those related to college access, and being the campus contact for the Michigan Service Scholars program and Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service planning committee. AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members commit to a year of working to address the problems of poverty in communities by mobilizing community resources and increasing the capacity of the low-income communities.
