As a graduate student member of CAICE, I was selected to serve as the CAICE student lead. Responsibilities for this position include organizing and leading weekly teleconference meetings among graduate students and postdocs at numerous CAICE institutions, scheduling presenters, compiling presentation materials, taking meeting minutes, and moderating discussions/questions. Additionally, I have served as the Area Safety Coordinator for the Bertram research group since December of 2013; responsibilities for this role include serving as a liaison between the Bertram research group and UCSD EH&S, establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and hazard control plans (HCPs) for chemicals and laboratory processes, ensuring said procedures are implemented and followed and proper personal protective equipment is utilized, ensuring safety training is completed, documented, and kept up to date for lab members, and maintaing a clean and safe working environment.
