About Nicole Wilson
I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I honestly don't think it's even a fair question because the more we learn, the more we realize we don't know. For some of us, not knowing something is a siren song, especially if its intriguing. The resulting career ends up looking more like a journey. So much more interesting than just a bulleted list of accomplishments, don't you think? Those lists don’t really tell you who a person is or what they’re like. I much prefer a good story. I started my professional career in public accounting - I was an auditor for 11 years. I'm still not sure how I took so long to get bored with the repetition and frustrated that I couldn't fix what was broken.A new role landed in my lap that mixed process improvement, change management and technology. The ride was sadly short-lived, but I learned a lot about myself and technology hooked me. I took some time and put a lot of thought into my subsequent career move. I chose Project Management, very likely because someone told me I wasn't good at it. I never could turn my back on a challenge. Fortunately, my big break in that direction ended up being with a small software company called IGEN. Since then, my journey has included so much more than just project management. I learned Agile and served as scrum master, worked in operations to solution all manner of system and process needs and even got back into the compliance space, owning IT Security. Along the way I became part of the leadership team which has been its own adventure that I don’t have space to do justice here.My new chapter takes me closer to our clients than ever before. I've been asked to lead Client Experience - essentially a culture shift that takes us from simply caring about our clients to a place where we hear their voices in every conversation and keep them at the forefront of our minds in every decision we make as a company. My favorite thing about working for IGEN? I certainly never get bored.
