I am studying healthcare management, I began investigating other areas in healthcare administration and I came across medical billing and coding. I enrolled in the program and I loved it. I've always had an eye for details and marveled at the miracle of modern medical procedures. I learned to read medical reports and how to accurately abstract (pick out services rendered) for billing. It may sound mundane , but to me, it is actually pretty fun. It's kind of like solving a riddle. For example, one small word in the report can completely change the code used and result in an error in billing, costing the company money. I greatly enjoyed my classes, and for the first time in my college career, felt like I found my niche. I'm excited to finally be able to combine my organizational skills and people skills in a setting where I can constantly learn new skills, instead of being stagnant. I'm looking forward to seeing where my new skillset will take me!
