• Completed key process design activities to support diverse projects at the Irving Oil Refinery. This included completing equipment and instrument data sheets, line lists, writing process design basis, and managing PFDs and P&IDs.• Collaborated with other engineering disciplines to ensure timely completion of project deliverables.• Lead technical P&ID reviews and supported Process Hazard Analysis workshops and resolution for new projects.

• Providing technical support to front-end refinery operations at the Nanticoke Refinery including crude, reforming, and hydrofining units. This includes training operations personnel on control schemes and working with them to troubleshoot and resolve unit issues, and pursue optimizations.• Developing advanced alarm strategies to reduce nuisance alarms, ensure alarms are prioritized according to risk and response time, and increase operator effectiveness. • Leveraging advanced control techniques to increase rates, optimize production targets, and drive margin improvement. This has included commissioning and updating dynamic multivariable controllers, modifying analyzer control schemes to reduce product giveaway, and modifying and tuning base controls to increase stability. • Task force team member trained in industrial fire fighting, confined space rescue, and high angle rescue. • Implemented site wide control changes to detect and prevent fired heater flooding on all furnaces onsite. Collaborated with subject matter experts to develop a new standard for heater control changes at Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil sites.• Provided technical support outside of typical applications engineer role; troubleshooting unit issues and supporting turnaround work including vessel inspections and walkdowns.

Supported the emissions inventory development process at Nanticoke Refinery• Stewarded site fugitive emissions management programs: acted as primary point of contact for mechanical leads and contractors, ensuring timely completion of repairs and regulatory compliance.• Reviewed and updated VOC emissions modeling. Implemented changes and improved overall accuracy of geobag models.• Initiated and implemented a simplified Toxic Substance Accounting process (O.Reg.455/09), to eliminate redundant sampling. This decreased the number of annual sample packages by 90%, resulting in a significant reduction in direct lab costs, and time commitments required of the environmental advisor, technical group, operations, and the environmental engineering intern. Created the data analysis template currently being used at the Sarnia Refinery to implement a similar improvement initiative. Provided technical support during the major 2016 turnaround• Applied onsite training to assisted with initial and final tower & exchanger inspections, reporting results to various stakeholders within operations, technical group and turnaround planners.• Represented technical group on a multidisciplinary team to complete over 130 job walkdowns. Identified and prioritized outstanding deficiencies, and updated P&IDs.

• Joined the Business Development Services Team for a four month placement in Zambia; providing farmers and local enterprises professional business development and capacity building services, to drive sustainable change and reduce poverty.• Showed tremendous initiative moving forward a highly successful pilot program assessing the ability of text messages to influence the yields of rural farmers.• Overcame language, culture, and socioeconomic barriers to facilitate better communication between Zambia’s major agribusiness and its producers.• Upon returning to Canada; facilitated various outreach projects in the Fredericton community. • This included presenting to UNB's ENG 1003 first year engineering class, speaking at the APEGNB annual general meeting, leading international development oriented workshops for engineering students and for students of local schools.
