Opportunity to intern at Crown Counseling as an MSW intern candidate and learn about clinical work with people of all ages and backgrounds. Excited for the opportunity to learn about the field from an agency that I have admired since I started with DCS.

As a Family Case Manager, the purpose of my position is to protect children from abuse and neglect and either maintain or reunify families whenever possible and, when in the best interest of the child, to achieve a permanent home or independent living for children unable to be reunited with their families in a timely manner. Some of the job duties that I am responsible for involves testifying in either a Juvenile Court of Law concerning the needs of the families and children, developing case plans, accepting on-call responsibility, and (most importantly) to assess the personal safety of family members.

To gather and input eligibility for individuals or families to determine who qualifies for Medicaid, Food Stamps, and/or TANF. I conducted interviews, engaged community members, provides resources, and connected families with the child support division to assist in receiving long term assistance to cover the children's needs.

Fall semester 2023

I worked as one of two house managers for a three-quarter house designed to provide a safe and sober home for women suffering with substance abuse. My job entailed overseeing women's needs, connecting residents with community resources, facilitating a women's aftercare program, and monitoring residents' daily needs.

My role as the assistant director was to assist the director in overseeing the residents who were seeking recovery to treat substance abuse problems. I resided in the home and worked closely with the staff to address daily living skills, household management, programming, and to connect the residents with resources in the community.
