During this role, I was responsible for class preparation and the marking of essay and exam papers.Using innovative teaching techniques and study skills sessions, I helped to keep students engaged with the subject whilst drawing on my experience to develop their essay and exam techniques. In a report detailing feedback on my classes, the Director of Studies wrote that "the students commended on her ability to improve their understanding of each tutorial topic and their communicative and presentational skills. I supported Level 1 and 2 courses in English, Information Technology and Employability Skills to school leavers and adults lacking formal qualifications. In addition to helping teach groups of 5-15 students, I offered intensive mentoring on a one-to-one basis with those particularly struggling to meet the requirements of the course. In slightly more detail, the English courses covered English language techniques, writing and exam skills. The IT courses covered basic IT skills, such as accessing the internet, opening new folders and creating files. In particular, I provided assistance with Microsoft Office packages. The employability skills courses involved career and education advice, CV writing, job and college applications and interview techniques. Whilst working at Franklin College I also worked on the database to enrol new students on courses and to personally register students on their day of enrolment. Show less
