Entrepreneur Nic Phillips is Vice President and a Founding Member of The Ideal Electric Company (formerly Hyundai Ideal Electric Co.), returning the company to private ownership following the acquisition from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in late 2017. This year the company celebrates 120 years, and is the last 100% American-owned, vertically-integrated, full-line manufacturer of specialty electric motors, generators, condensers, converters, switchgear, power systems and controls up to 50,000 horsepower for every application, on-shore and off, worldwide. Nic began his first career very early with a passion for high-performance lighting technology for theatrical shows, ballets, television, architecture, and spectaculars. He designed his first work at The Kennedy Center at 19 and his first world premiere for American Ballet Theater at just 21 years old. Lighting Dimensions Magazine featured him as their youngest ever "Ten Top Under Thirty Professionals Shaping the Lighting Industry" leveraging his creative endeavors to visionary product development and marketing strategies with some of the most innovative brands, including OSRAM/Sylvania, Philips, Selecon, and Prism Projection. He has extensive experience with two of Mexico’s leading entertainment companies, Grupo CIE/OCESA and the digital innovation laboratory COCOLAB with credits including Mexico’s 2010 Bicentennial spectacular, the 2012 G20 Summit, Mexico's longest-running hit musical "Mentiras", and the 35th Anniversary "Tour Juntos" of one of the most iconic Latin Pop bands TIMBIRICHE. DreamSolutions USA became the Americas beachhead of New Zealand-based software controls developer LightFactory. With over 5,000 licensed users, the software underpins Signify's Vari*Lite NEO lighting controls product line. Nic invested over three years in co-founding CultureMap.com - a digital media platform that has become an essential source for real-time digital media coverage in Texas. CultureMap has expanded over 15 years to operate in the Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio markets.Nic was featured in Cadillac's Spirit of Innovation campaign and Houston Business Journal's 40 Under 40; he is a Past President of the Texas Auto Writers Association, an Advisory Council member of the Center for Performing Arts Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital, Director of the Astrodome Conservancy and an alumnus of the non-partisan public policy leadership organization, the Texas Lyceum.
