Many of the causal risk factors and their function in genetic disease are still unknown. Until recent years the focus was on (pathogenic) variants located in the coding regions of the genome. However, it can be that the causal mutation is located in the non-coding region of the genome, for example within an enhancer region. In this project I aim to identify genetic risk factors in both regulatory and coding regions using data from multiple different sequencing techniques to understand the molecular mechanisms behind genetic risk factors.

Luxembourg City

Identified novel drug candidates from the Connectivity Map database which can boost the heart regeneration of zebrafish. The identification was based on microarray data from zebrafish hearts at different stages of their regeneration process. Clustering of MS/MS spectra to improve peptide and protein identification.Implemented a dirichlet distribution model in Python to cluster unidentified spectra from mass spectrometer measurements together with identified spectra to improve peptide and protein identification.
