Since October 2007 I've been immersing myself in programming and making websites. That is working out well and the people I've worked for and am working for are telling me I'm doing a good job. I've always worked with computers and consider myself efficient in using them.In making websites I strive to build for the future, using flexible techniques that should last for years. My other aims are good usability and simplicity, so using the website is easy, I _do_ know that not everyone is a computer expert.I keep up to date on tech-stuff by reading blogs and going to meetups.My goals are to learn more so that I have a better overview on system design, using OOP, design patterns and also stuff like test-driven-development. I also want to learn a couple of other programming languages. I would like to become proficient in making good websites fast, using patterns and checklists in every way possible. The field of online education interests me a lot, since we're all swimming in this giant ocean of information and it is paramount that we get the quality information we need in the form that we prefer.One of my strengths is explaining and communicating about complex technological subjects to people who are not technological. I can take off my developer-hat and talk "human". Using this skill I've also given a number of trainings (on JavaScript amongst other things) to researchers and colleagues.Specialties: Programming web applications using Javascript, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS.My other career is in the (drug) harm-reduction field where I've been working part-time since 2014. I've been working there as a peer educator and later as both a peer coach (managing teams of peer educators) and as a drug-tester. This is a fascinating field to work in and I love it that I can help nudge people into behaving (more) sensibly with regards to psychoactive substances.
