Niels is a senior tax partner with considerable experience in corporate taxation and financial planning with particular emphasis on trans Tasman issues. He has been involved in many of the major Trans Tasman acquisitions and has advised major banks on cross-border leasing; securitisations; and sub-participation proposals.Niels is also very skilled in representing corporate clients to successfully resolve their tax disputes without the complications of court proceedings.Niels recent experience includes advising Treasury on its PPP projects; advising AMI on its government equity placement to ameliorate the potential claims from the Christchurch earthquake; advising Vodafone NZ on its acquisition of Telstra Clear NZ and advising BATNZ in its major tax dispute. His major corporate clients have also included Fletcher Challenge (and its descendants, Fletcher Building, Fletcher Forests and Rubicon), BHP, Rayonier, Westfield, Woolworths, and major banking clients such as ANZ, CBA, Macquarie Bank, UBS, and Westpac.Niels is ranked as a Leading Individual in the Asia Pacific Legal 500 2013 edition.
