Dan Nielsen is a recognized sustainability expert with more than 20 years of experience implementing sustainability initiatives across asset management and advising corporations on sustainability-related risks and opportunities. Dan’s deep understanding of market dynamics, business imperatives, and sustainability issues, coupled with strong analytical and communication skills, have positioned him as an effective leader and strategic thinker at the intersection of investment, business, and societal and environmental impact.Dan most recently worked as Managing Director, ESG at Riveron where he advised corporate clients on sustainability business strategies and investor communications. Prior to Riveron, Dan served as the head of product management for ESG indexes at Morningstar working across Research, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to develop and execute ESG index strategies to drive business growth.As a Managing Director at Great Lakes Advisors, Dan worked with asset management teams to incorporate and optimize ESG analytic frameworks, and with sales and marketing teams as an ESG expert to promote ESG strategies among clients, prospects, and investment consultants. Dan also led the stewardship initiatives at Great Lakes Advisors, Christian Brothers Investment Services, and Wespath, developing engagement strategies and meeting with portfolio companies to discuss and advise on environmental and social risks and opportunities affecting business performance and investment returns. Since 2020, Dan has been teaching ESG Investing at Loyola University of Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business.Dan’s strong foundation in asset management and corporate strategy and his ability to communicate effectively across various stakeholder groups enables him to create collaborative solutions that drive positive change and deliver impactful results.
