Contract Geologist

Current

Aalborg

My tasks include mapping of groundwater resources in a project for Viborg Kommune in Jutland Denmark using software Geoscene3D and integrating all available data including newly obtained Skytem data. I also act as project manager for several other similar projects where technical work is conducted by external consultants.

May 2018 - Present

In Transition

Copenhagen Area, Denmark

Nov 2017 - May 2018

Lead Geologist

Aberdeen, United Kingdom

I worked in a small high performance subsurface team that was responsible for the technical evaluation of a very large gas project in Quad 9, offshore UK. Project is expected to deliver 4 – 6 % of UK’s gas consumption from 2023. INTEGRATED FIELD DEVELOPMENT• Geoscience studies led to a new and innovative concept for modelling sand injectites.• Built large regional static 3D model combining the sand injectite fields Maclure, Gryphon, Harding Central, Harding South, Harding Southeast, Tullich and Morrone into one coherent static model.• Iterative optimisation of the model integrating 4D seismic data. • Presentation of status, progress and interim results to management and partners.• Documentation of all technical work in synthesis reports.UNCERTAINTY ANALYSIS• Multiple scenario geomodelling• Collecting subsurface uncertainties in a Subsurface Realization Table. • Estimate of probabilistic gas volume range using Petrel Monte Carlo.TRAINING AND MENTORING• Training and mentoring of younger staff.• Several knowledge sharing presentations internally and externally at Aberdeen University.ACHIEVEMENTS• All subsurface project deadlines and milestones were met.• The static models supported the project concept analysis, platform facilities design and calculation of project economics.• Agreement was achieved between project partners on the 3D static model. This was very challenging because project partners had very different interests in the gas project.

Nov 2014 - Nov 2017

Lead Geologist

Maersk Oil Qatar

Doha, Qatar

I worked in a studies team to support further development of giant Al Shaheen field, offshore Qatar. INTEGRATED FIELD DEVELOPMENT • Interpretation and analysis of cores and image logs for fracture characterization in a giant carbonate reservoir (Kharaib Fm) and interpretation of geological drivers that explained the observed fracture intensity across the field. • Modelling of the fractures in 3D static sector models using Discrete Fracture Networks (DFN) Petrel software and testing different fracture models in the simulator (Eclipse). • Built the first static model and assessed oil volumes (575 MMbbls) in the Jurassic green field Hith dolomite reservoir. • Construction of fit for purpose sector models aimed at modelling the fluid communication between stacked reservoirs to assess risk of implementing WAG (Water Alternating Gas injection) on a large scale.• I acted as the focal point for compliant reserves mapping and reporting of oil and gas volumes to external auditors.• Benchmarking of oil recoveries using Complexity Index characterization and mapping. TRAINING MENTORING AND HIRING • Responsibility for assessing skills and capabilities of all geoscience staff, identification and interviewing of new technical staff. • Internal and external knowledge sharing presentations. Presented paper at Society of Petroleum Engineers meeting RCSC in Abu Dhabi 2011.ACHIEVEMENTS• The fracture study led to identification and prediction of areas with high risk of direct communication between producer and injector pairs. As a consequence ways to mitigate the risk were identified and implemented in the planning of future horizontal infill wells leading to increased oil recovery. • Complexity benchmarking study led to identification of under performing reservoir areas, where further infill drilling was required to increase oil recovery to its potential.

Jan 2011 - Nov 2014

Lead Geologist

Copenhagen Area, Denmark

I worked in several teams in Global Production Development (GPD), which was responsible for all of Maersk Oil’s international strategic field development projects.INTEGRATED FIELD DEVELOPMENT• My tasks included full field reservoir characterization, data interpretation, 3D static reservoir modeling as input to dynamic simulation. • Modelling of the clastic fields in Kazakhstan Dunga and Saigak including multi scenario facies and petrophysical modelling.• Made proposal to Management to deepen Dunga production well, DGA-40, leading to discovery of three additional reservoirs of which one was later successfully developed (STOIIP 20 MMstb).• I visited data rooms in Kazakhstan to do quick evaluations and concluding the work with presentations and recommendations to management on the value of company aquisitions. • Further development of Danish chalk field Tyra including near field appraisal evaluations.• Provided technical assurance to support gas sales negotiations with Dong Energy (today Ørsted) of gas volumes and reserves in Danish gas fields.• Worked in several teams with responsibility to formulate field development plans (FDP’s) for Danish North Sea fields Tyra, Harald East, Harald West, Svend, Lulita, Elly, Alma and Freja.• Technical support to equity discussions (Freja field) with operator Amerada Hess.• Documentation of technical work and presentations to Management and Danish Energy Agency (DEA).
