• In my QA / QC role I was responsible for the maintenance of the quality management system and documentation to ISO 9001 accreditation. I set and measured key performance indicator figures and oversaw the successful transition from ISO9000:1994 to ISO9001:2000.• I was the point of contact between the company and customers on all matters of quality assurance– audits, complaints, etc. Gained much experience in dealing with pharmaceutical and medical device companies.• Over time my responsibilities increased. I took charge of warehouse management, stock control and dispatch. Over one 2 year period I was successful in reducing stock levels by €40,000.• As part of the production team I had responsibility for scheduling and supervising personnel. • I started my working life in the family business, with a holiday job as helper to my father, who was a fruit and vegetable wholesale distribution agent for Fyffes. This provided an invaluable education in many areas that would benefit me in years to come - purchasing, stock control, customer care, scheduling and the value of hard work. • Over the years I provided holiday relief for other agents, both as an assistant and later as lorry driver.• During a period of ill health for my father I had sole responsibility for running the business.
