I was also responsible for the complete development and commissioning of the Drill Unit Controller.Wavesub Wave Energy Converter (WEC)Control system for a prototype WEC deployed in Falmouth bay. This used dual-redundant B&R PLCs with distributed I/O. I managed this project from initial tender to final delivery and commissioning and led a team of 3 electrical engineers and 2 mechanical engineers. In addition, I acted as systems engineer and implemented the control and GUI software in C++.Valve Test DataloggerSemi-automated testing, datalogging and report generation for a variety of valve types. Windows application in C#, .NET, MVVM, OPC-UA. I debugged and integrated the software, then extended it, including the annotation of graphs and additional test types.Seatricity Wave Energy ConverterB&R PLC to control the WEC & shore-based PLC for GUI via a 9600 baud VHF radio link. Project manager, responsible for a multi-disciplinary team of 6 engineers. I designed and implemented the communication protocol for the radio link and most of the GUI in C++. DCV Production Test RigI proposed the development of this test rig to improve productivity by automating Factory Acceptance Testing for DCVs. B&R PLC using C++. I ran my own internet retail business, doing my own website development using HTML5/CSS3/JQuery. I also wrote my own custom shopping cart and stock control systems (PERL, mySQL), interfacing with payment providers and Amazon.

I instigated several process improvement initiatives and I played a significant role in the assessment, and attainment, of CMM Level 2 accreditation. Jubilee Line In-Cab Display I managed a team of ten engineers developing an in-cab driver’s display for the train management system on new rolling stock for the Jubilee line. It was designed using the Yourdon methodology and written in C++.Airbus Slats and Flaps Processor Design, implementation and testing of code for a secondary flight computer for the Airbus A320 / A321. A dual lane, embedded, safety critical system written in Intel 80186/Motorola 68010 assembler.Advanced Ground StationA real-time, multi-processor, safety-critical command and control system used to fly a drone aircraft. Motorola 68020 Assembler on VME bus with VersaDOS. JSP188 compliant design. Responsibilities included liaison with both the customer and end users and leading a team of three. A real-time monitoring & inventory system for the petrochemical industry, written in Pascal, C and 80x86 Assembler, under DOS. I was promoted to Project Leader, responsible for the complete product life-cycle, customer liaison and a team of 8. I also introduced configuration control and fault tracking systems, to gain BS5750 approval.
