Installation, servicing and fault rectification across the UK of Environmental Alarms, Intruder Alarms, Surveillance Systems, Networks and Weighing Systems.

Appointed as SCIDA (Site Co-ordinating Installation Design Authority) for the Joint Intelligence Training Group at Chicksands in Bedford. Responsible for Governance of the physical and environmental aspects of all existing and new MOD / Commercial ICT installations on Site, ensuring compliance with the Cabinet Office Information Assurance Governance Framework, HMG Security Policy Framework and Health & Safety requirements. Issue of SCIDA compliance certification which is an MOD mandated requirement to enable installations to achieve accreditation / re-accreditation and be brought into operational use.Governance is in the form of analysis of technical documentation and inspection of installations throughout their life cycle to assure their initial and continued compliance, with mitigation and risk management as deemed necessary and appropriate.Upon arrival, it was apparent Chicksands had both Commercial and bespoke MOD installations falling short of mandated MOD Standards and Policies, and in some cases British Law. Additionally, it was clear that control of the majority of the facilities’ Configuration Management had also been lost. Subsequently, a survey was completed to scope the scale of the shortcomings and a strategy formulated to establish a new Configuration Management Baseline identifying all non-compliances. Prioritisation was levied against remedial action for non-compliances that were likely to present immediate / potential risk to life, then to systems that process and store sensitive data. This remedial work was being undertaken concurrently with ongoing and new projects, ensuring the standards of these installations met the MOD Standards and Policies to safeguard compounding the Site failings further.In following this strategy for change and improvement, best practice for Governance would be assured, whilst laying the foundation blocks to ensure full compliance could be met swiftly whilst this continued to be work in progress for my successor.

Responsible for the implementation of technical projects across the Joint Intelligence Training Group at Chicksands in Bedford, in particular liaison with external contractors for technical refresh of a large LAN, and removal / installation of multiple specialist covert communication systems across various mobile platforms. Team lead for the management and fault investigation/resolution of specialist covert communication systems.Due to a vacancy, undertook a higher management position to oversee the day to day running of the department and its personnel, which comprised of 4 sub-departments.

Responsible for Service and civilian staff in the provision and maintenance of bespoke systems and software to support teams undertaking Defensive Monitoring of MOD communication systems, protection of IT Networks, security sweeps for Clandestine Eavesdropping devices and all logistical support.Responsible for research and development projects, including engagement with existing and new providers from industry. Conducted procurement and through life management of new and upgraded systems / software until their 'end of life', then ensured disposal in line with policy.Collaborated with equivalents in all Services, Government and civilian agencies.

Responsible for the team's preparation, deployment, operation, maintenance and recovery of tactical terrestrial and satellite communication systems worldwide; including managing team members' morale, welfare, discipline and training whilst ensuring manning levels could deliver the required operational output.

Carried out preventative and corrective maintenance, along with setup and configuration of satellite communication and terrestrial links delivering services to all UK Forces and Government agencies at home and deployed.
