Senior Mechanical Designer - Pile Fuel Storage Ponds Sludge Retrieval, Sellafield LtdThe enhanced bay capability team has been reformed to take part in the decommisioning of one the storage ponds holding intermediate and low level waste. I was responsible for producing the 3D models (Autodesk Inventor) and design proposal drawing's for the team. My primary function was to design and produce models and drawings of a Sludge Retrieval Module which consisted of three independent pumps on a mast, I generated all drawings from the start of concept design phase through to the end of the detail design. during my time on the Pile Fuel Storage Pond team i modelled the exterior pond complete with storage skips and all the ancillary equipment, DPD's of transfer pumps and lines to the next process.

Redhall Jex was contracted to design and install the main steelwork and supports for a new breakfast cereal line in wrexam.my part in the project was to route 20M of ducting 1.3M in Dia over the roof using only existing steelwork and support plinths from a chiller unit to the designated roof orifice, the challenge was to route the ducting around existing services.other projects included routing a 4 inch blowing line, various mixing vessel skids and lifting frame for 4x 1ton bigbags.

my contract was to detail three seperate 4inch pipe line's, these where a feed, purge and exhaust systems and associated supports on a MOD glovebox.contract finished in the allotted time.

My role is that of layout design Draughtsman working on proposal drawings for UK Power Networks. The project was designing a ventilation system for a 7 kilometre tunnel linking Wimbledon to Wandsworth. The proposal is to use two backward curved fans with special attention being paid to minimise pressure drop through the system.

Senior Mechanical Designer - PFSP Enhanced Bay Capability Sellafield LtdThe enhanced bay capability will be a modification to the pile fuel storage pond indoor wet bays to provide the capability to store approximately 100 skips of intermediate level waste until down stream waste treatment plants are available to process this waste. The import transfer capability comprises of 3 electrically driven underwater skip trolleys which transfer skips (up to 4 tonnes) from the outside pond to the new indoor buffer store. I was responsible for producing all the 3D models (Autodesk Inventor) for this project and all the engineering drawings from the start of concept design phase through to the end of the detail design phase.

As a member of the Actus team in Daresbury. Actus is a joint venture company consisting of Costain, Jacobs and Amec, working for magnox the project aim was to prepare filter material for encapsulation. This was achieved by cutting the lid off the filter box with a diamond wire saw, core drill the filter frame and convey the filter material to the next phase.Working with the engineers I would produce a 3d model of the system using AutoCAD inventor and to generate 2d drawings for the client . The project was completed on time with no budget overruns, from concept to design through to product procurement in five months. Supporting the bid team for phase two of the project until being moved to the enhanced bay project.

INEOS Technologies design and produce electrolyser cell rooms for the extraction of chlorine gas. I was required to visit site to measure and draw layouts for both the civil and mechanical engineering departments. To produce General Arrangement and detailed drawings for conceptual and commercial designs. Update Engineering Line Diagrams, pipe work and site layouts. Produce fabrication drawings with full use of Weld symbols, Geometric tolerance and surface finishes. Frame design and FEA using inventor frame designer. All drawing work was done using the Autodesk products 50% inventor and 50% AutoCAD

Nuvia supply engineering solutions to the nuclear industry, I was working on the SDP project and my role is to help develop conceptual designs in a team environment using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Adhering to the engineering standards of the industry, such as full traceability and concise design intent.

Areva T&D design and manufacture turn key projects for national and international electricity suppliers from new substations to substation upgrades.As layout design draughtsman I produce the substation models from which all the necessary foundation/bund positions are placed and cable pits and trench routes are shown, All safety and phase distances are derived from the model. Working closely with a layout design engineer we evolve the model into a working platform for the various project engineers to discuss before issuing to the client.We then produce a fabrication package of the various platforms and supports needed and raise all the necessary bills of materials for the project.

My role as Lead Mechanical Design Draughtsman I was responsible for overseeing the mechanical drawing office to ensure project milestones where met on time and within budget. ProjectsAs Lead Mechanical Design Draughtsman within PZ Cussons I worked on specific projects to rationalise the Nigerian supply chain, projects included:- • The transfer of four manufacturing facilities to one GMP/WHO compliant factory – project spend £5.9m;• The construction of a 6000M2 High Bay National Distribution Centre - project spend £4m;• The construction of a detergent powder manufacturing plant and the refurbishment of a powder packing plant – project spend £15m. These projects involved extended trips to Nigeria to carry out site measuring, liaise with senior local management, and actively assist and co-ordinate external engineers from the UK, Nigeria, and India.

PCS designed and manufactured vacuum/blowing systems for pharmaceutical and food industries. Whilst working at PCS I worked with designs for conveying systems for large companies such as Mars Confectionary, Reckitts, and Smith Kline Beecham. The size of projects varied from £10k to £900k. Third party equipment used - kinatrol valves, blowing seals, rotary valves, ribbon & rotating mixing machinery, spiral and belt conveyors.Day to day activities included:-• Responsible for drawing conveyor systems from the senior engineer’s initial design;• Drawing the necessary line diagrams, G.A. and Fabrication drawings;• Detailing 316stst vacuum hoppers and loss in weight feeders and all ancillary ductwork;

Senior Colman manufactured air conditioning units and air diffuser grills for the construction industry. The majority of the contracts were slight modifications to standard units to suit client’s specifications. As system administrator I was responsible for managing eight CAD seats, running backups, and installing new software/hardware. Whilst at Senior Colman I produced a parametric drawing program that included all standard products.Day to day activities included:-• The production of pressed steel fabrication drawings;• Designing detail grills and diffuser unit for air-conditioning systems.

Tectrol manufactured clinical incineration plants for hospitals and laboratories. The majority of the design work was done using 8thk &10thk mild steel plate refractory lined. I introduced AutoCAD release 12 to the drawing office along with the training programs and backup systems.Day to day activities included:-• Provisional G.A. drawings for the sales department; • Detailing hydraulic rams and doors.
