From 2006 - 2009, Nigel King was a Director, Equity Partner and Senior Investment Manager of Portland Capital LLP. At Portland Capital, Mr King ran a joint investment program for the $180 Million Portland Global Real Estate Securities Fund where he managed the directional short strategies with exposure up to $75 Million. These investment strategies involved long and long/short strategies in the listed securities of US and European companies in the commercial real estate, financial, housebuilding, and lodging sectors.Mr King was a Partner at Athenaeum Capital LLP between 2001-2004 with specialisation in European real estate markets. Athenaeum Capital was established by former Salomon Brothers Arbitrage Desk partners and invested partner capital only.Mr King has over 20 years experience in real estate having completed over $9 billion of advisory and principal transactions across all real estate asset categories including public and private equity and debt. Mr King was with Salomon Smith Barney in London (1986-2000) where he was Head of European Real Estate Finance. He led the Real Estate investment banking business in Europe (1993-1998) and was Head of Real Estate Capital Markets (1998–2000). He then joined Macquarie Capital Partners (2000–2002) as Head of European Investment Banking, which specialised in the private equity sector for European real estate investment.Mr King has a BSc in Physics from the University of Warwick and an MBA from London Business School.Specialties: European Real Estate Finance
