Data Co-ordinator in the Radiological and Chemical Sciences (RACS) Group. The work area comprises a diverse group of scientists who provide high quality analytical support, data interpretation and scientific advice to a comprehensive portfolio of internal and external contracts for UK and international customers. The purpose of my role is to co-ordinate the environmental monitoring data associated with our radiological risk assessment programme as well as maintaining a resilient and accessible data archive, making use of the Cefas Laboratory Information Management System. The main duties and responsibilities involve collating environmental monitoring data for the Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) report, which includes co-ordinating large amounts of data and producing accurate and consistent tables for use in assessments and for presentation in the RIFE report. I assist in the production of the RIFE report and provide data reports to specified deadlines to external customers. It requires excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining high quality outputs to tight deadlines, and the ability to work independently. Working within a team, I provide advice, information and data to internal and external customers. Through collaboration with various external partners I determine, and then successfully manage their different requirements. All Data processed is thoroughly quality assured, necessitating attention to detail.I provide reports and datasets tailored to suit the needs of a wide customer base. These include The Food Standards Agency, The Environment Agency, Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, OSPAR, International Atomic Energy Agency, the Joint Research Council and the respective government agencies for the Channel Islands.
