About Nigel Linden

Nigel Linden is president and owner of Re:Test, Inc. He has over 40 years of experience; 20 as an independent consultant. He has worked with over 160 clients worldwide, performing the following:All aspects of the Durability Attribute; both analysis and test; consulting and training. • Re-engineering product development processes within organizations to more effectively use testing and CAE for durability validation • Helping design and development engineers understand how to use analysis and the test lab effectively • Ensuring the right type of test and analysis is implemented at the right point in the development cycleCustomer correlation and Durability Schedule development to create proving ground tests & loads that represent customer usage • Using virtual proving grounds to develop loads and perform physical tests • Using the lab to provide data to help designers better model highly non-linear components • Hybridizing to integrate analytical models with physical testsLow Cycle and High Cycle Fatigue Analysis, such as: • Body in White using modal coordinates • Suspension Links using unit loads • Castings, weldments, forgings, SPRs, adhesive bonds etc. Providing analysis services to solve pressing product reliability issues: • CAE Analysis using the most advanced tools currently available - Non-Linear implicit and explicit FEA - Multi-Body dynamics (MBD) with non-linear flexible bodies - Integration of Ftire Models for virtual proving grounds - System modeling using Modelica to develop virtual test rigs - Cosimulation for complex multi-physics interactions - CAE fatigue analysis of structuresData Acquisition, Analysis, and model correlationDesigning and running laboratory-based tests to resolve product reliability issues: • Identifying structural or resonant conditions that lead to failure • Developing tests to represent customer usage • Designing test systems that can reproduce the environment • Data reduction techniques to reduce test time - Developing Block Cycle Programs - Drive File Development - Fatigue Sensitive Editing • Rig DesignDesigning and supervising the build of new test facilities: •Design and PE Stamped drawings of: -Seismic mass -Hydraulic distribution -Control room -Trenching and cableways • Vendor selection -Writing equipment specifications -Strengths and weaknesses of each vendor -Writing Acceptance Test specifications -Installation supervisionYou can see more at www.re-test.com

  • Mts Systems Corporation
    Senior Consultant
Mts Systems Corporation Jun 1995 - Dec 2001
    Eden Prairie, Mn, Us
Nigel left MTS as an employee, and after a brief period as an independent consultant, signed an exclusive contract with MTS, continuing the work of test simulation technology development and deployment.
  • Mts Systems Corporation
    Consulting Group Manager
Mts Systems Corporation Apr 1985 - Jun 1995
    Eden Prairie, Mn, Us
In 1985, Nigel became the European RPC consultant for MTS, helping their customers become more effective in simulation testing. Nigel founded the original Users' Group that is now meeting regularly in North America, Europe and Japan, for the exchange of techniques and ideas. In just over a year, MTS transferred Nigel to Minnesota to head a newly formed team of test consultants at their head-office. During his 10 year tenure as an employee and a further 5 years as a consultant with an exclusive relationship with MTS, Nigel was responsible for the simulation consulting work and training classes that MTS performed around the world, helping companies develop, build and startup new testing facilities, and streamline product development using servo-hydraulics. Nigel was a major agent in promoting the “Simulation Revolution” of the 1980’s, a time when laboratory testing became a major component of automotive product development; slashing the time it took for OEMs to develop new vehicles
