He’s spent 35 years of his career in consulting and advisory services in its many forms: in small start-ups, established firms, research institutions, not-for-profits, and global organisations. He’s worked in, and for, government across multiple portfolios. He’s been a leader and director of not-for-profit associations at local, state and national level. Nigel was the longest serving partner of Apis Group, a specialist management consulting business in Canberra. With his business partners, Nigel oversaw the growth of Apis over 20 years, from less than a dozen people back in 2002, to a major firm of more than 150 professionals, and its subsequent sale and transition in 2019 to Accenture, a world leading global technology services business. Most recently he was a Managing Director in Accenture's Public Sector Industry Practice, until leaving in March 2022.In the government sector, Nigel has led assignments for numerous departments including Human Services, Social Services, Health, NDIA, Education, Employment, Finance, Prime Minister & Cabinet, Home Affairs, Veterans’ Affairs among others, including many small agencies. These have included short and long term assignments on high profile government initiatives and policy reforms, with services spanning the full delivery lifecycle: feasibility, planning, business case, design, implementation, execution, operations and evaluation. He has been involved in the development of numerous first and second pass business cases, strategic reviews, and independent evaluations. He has worked on - and led teams for - a number of complex organisational establishment and transformation programs.Nigel’s career started in the engineering profession, specialising in offshore geotechnics. He has a doctorate from Oxford University and in 1993 was awarded a post doctorate fellowship with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, where he spent more than a year in Oslo researching and consulting for Norwegian oil and gas companies. His career includes more than six years with BHP in Western Australia working on major resource development projects in the Pilbara and offshore north-western Australia.Nigel brings a unique blend of deep analytical capability, with leadership and management experience across numerous sectors.
