Hello, I am a graphic designer, educator and writer based in Ipswich in the UK. I have over 20 years experience as a design educator, spanning teaching, curriculum development, research, business engagement and leadership roles across both Further and Higher Education. Since joining the University of Suffolk I have held various positions including Course Leader for BA (Hons) Graphic Design, Student Experience Lead for Arts & Humanities, and Arts representative for Ethical Research. I am currently Head of Arts with responsibility for art and design within the School of Technology, Business & Arts, and I teach on undergraduate Graphic Design courses.I have written and been interviewed about graphic design, visual culture and creative education for a range of publishers, including Bloomsbury Academic, Eye: The International Review of Graphic Design, Creative Review and Unit Editions, and I have self-published photographic and essay-based research projects in print and online. I am the revision author of the second edition of The Fundamentals of Graphic Design, (2019, Bloomsbury). Alongside academia and writing, I take on freelance graphic design commissions and consultation work, dedicating my services to clients from the public, cultural and voluntary sectors.
