Developed a retail Facilities Management concept for Waterstones which has been replicated for 6 other retail companies bring them significant savings on their Facilities Management service. The concept has been tailored to meet each customers needs. In every case the FM solution was conceived and delivered on time and within budget delivering the benefits agreed with the customer. This business start up now has a turnover of £30m and has profits of £1.5m. Prior to this role at City I was COO of the £180m FM contract for ASDA providing all hard and soft maintenance services to all their UK premises.We employed 9000 people and delivered annually significant savings(£5m per annum) through innovativeFM processes. I moved into my current role when a new 10 year contract had been awarded to secure the ASDA business until 2019

My own consultancy business which assisted First Group secure the highly profitable rail franchise called Trans Pennine Express. I was responsible for operational planning of services, marketing and operational delivery of services to secure the opportunities from projected passenger volume increases.After that exciting project I worked with Permira as their industry expert on the management buy in of Travelodge/Little Chef moving into the interim role of Managing Director of Little Chef for 9 months. I was responsible for conceiving a value added fromula and to fine tune the new brand expereince to provide an improved customer experience. This highlighted which stores needed to close. I joined a management buy in team to purchase 12 motorway service areas for £90m with profits of £8m from Rank Plc and was funded by Candover/Cinven. All customer offers were repackaged and the management and their teams were re motivated and a new culture embedded into the team. The business was sold for £150m in 1996 to Granada where I became Commercial Director. A year later I joined Welcome Break along with my former Chairman at Pavilion following the buy-in of the business by InvestcorpIn all these roles there were significant increase in both turnover and profits and major changes in culture to being customer focussed. I joined the business as a graduate trainee and was promoited a number of times before being appointed Operations Director in 1985. Promotion was due to my ability to be inovative, successfully market the products, motivate the workforce and above all increase profits by identifing opportunites and new entertainment concepts. In my role as operations Director I doubled the profits in 5 years
