Canvassing for advertising and editorial content for MTR ( machine tool review) which was a monthly industrial publication servicing the new and used machine tool market.I had to gather both advertising and editorial content and help format it together with my editor into a monthly industrial publication.

I sold a service to the logistics industry as well as the plant and earth moving/mining markets. This involved service exchange engines/diesel pumps and injectors/alternators and starter motors as well as repairs as an alternative.The company also effected repairs incorporating pressure testing to heads,machining to various engine components eg crank grinds, engine rebores, conrod resizing, head skimming,etc.Dyna testing was also done if requested.

I was responsible for bringing in new business as well as looking after current client base. The company repaired diesel injection pumps and injectors. Service exchanges were also on offer.There was also an automotive electrical service for general repairs to wiring, trouble shooting,also starter motors, alternators and batteries.A service for turbo chargers was also on offer in the form of a service exchange.

I called on the mining and food/beverage industries predominantly to fill their needs for industrial mixers/agitators.APV custom made rubber lagged impellers and supplied drives for the vessels/tanks as well. They also designed and organized the manufacture of the vessels.

I co- ordinated the sales, dispatch and delivery of goods as well as purchasing of supplies. The company was an agent for BTR Sarmcol and sold industrial/hydraulic hoses and fittings.

I sold moulded rubber components and extrusions as well as industrial hoses and fittings, hydraulic hoses and conveyor belting and rubber sheeting.I called predominantly on the gold mines and heavy and medium sized industrial and commercial clients including plant and earth moving companies.

Starting as a sampler then surveyor, miner and finishing up as a production shift boss.I wrote my Elementary Samling Certificate whilst working for Anglo American Corporation and passed the exam. I enrolled at The Government Miner's Training College and completed the training to get my blasting certificate. After a short stint as a miner I embarked on a Learner Shift Boss course to become a senior official. Was studying for my mine captain's certificate at the time I changed my career path to sales.
