This was a varied role encompassing the full product development lifecycle of analysis (SOR production), design, implementation, training and functional support. The products were generally developed in MS Access or SQL Server and took data from throughout the Business as well as external sources including the Bank of England and APACS (UK Payments Association). A selection of projects included:• Faster Payments ReconciliationIn 2008/09 NR moved away from BACS payment processing to Faster Payments (APACS). Unfortunately there were problems with the reconciliation and reporting solution developed by Business Systems (in-house) therefore I was asked to quickly analyse and develop a solution using MS Access VBA. This involved taking data from both NR and APACS systems and creating an automated and manual reconciling application. This was completed within 2 weeks and ensured all payments made through Faster Payments were successful, while highlighting any problematic transactions that required looking into. This was a very high profile system as had any of our customer transactions went missing we could have had further unwanted headlines in the press. • Ireland Bank Reconciliation and NR GL PostingThis application involved taking a trial balance from the Ireland Branch GL system (4 Series) performing validation checks, mapping the NR ledger to the Ireland Branch ledger then creating an output that can be automatically uploaded into the NR GL system (e5). This involved liaising with staff in Ireland and Finance Department Management Accountants, defining all requirements, creating SOR etc.
