I am a graphic designer and website designer and developer based in Mallow, Cork, Ireland who has over 18 years experience designing for print, over here and in Edinburgh. My vast portfolio of work contains leaflets, branding, stationery, brochures and exhibition systems. I can tailor a design solution for an individual or global company. I also have over 13 years experience in designing and building all types of websites. These include small brochure sites, large corporate sites and Content Managed Websites.

I moved over to Ireland in June 2007 and worked at Zebedee Marketing & Design as their Senior Designer. It was here I started using the Adobe Creative Suite and switched from QuarkXpress to InDesign. Here I worked as part of the team and on my own. Again here my role was split between design for print and website design and construction. I was able to demonstrate real creative flair with an eye for detail. It was very satisfying to meet with the client and see the job through from concept to final production and then to get consistent positive client feedback, while working to tight deadlines. A chunk of work was done for the SuperValu chains involving brochures, exhibition work and advertising. All done within the SuperValu brand guidelines.

I worked in a design team developing design concepts through to finished visuals and artwork for print. Extensive knowledge was gained in a daily use of Photoshop, Illustrator and QuarkXpress. Photoshop work ranged from major image manipulation and retouching to montages and full-blown illustrations. Artworking involved creating layouts, typesetting and performing corrections under tight deadlines, at the clients request. Then checking all components of the job would print correctly. Advert design and construction had particularly tight deadlines. My other role within the studio was that of Website Designer and Developer I designed and built websites using Dreamweaver, CSS (cascading Style Sheets) and handcoding HTML. I am self taught in these techniques. I also advised on the best solutions for optimisation and accessibility. Towards the end of my time at Shaw I began to teach myself how to build Content Managed Websites (using Expression Engine).

Immediately after college I was employed at Edmonds Advertising. My prime role was graphic designer. Meeting the clients and taking the initial brief I would create the conceptional layouts; art-direct if need be, then artwork and final production. Sometimes incorporating my own illustrative work within the job.
