Providing technical leadership for migration of a financial data warehouse to a new distributed model on Netezza. Mentoring developers and data modelers for Netezza physical design and Netezza best practices. Designed and built a global marketing warehouse on Hadoop (Hortonworks) with interfaces to IBM Campaign and BI tools. Designed and built analytics to support campaign execution and campaign performance analysis. When fully loaded the system will support as much as a billion customers. Provided technical leadership to development team for distributed database design.Designed and built a marketing warehouse on Netezza for a major US retailer with interfaces to IBM Campaign for multi-channel campaigns and BI tools for campaign analysis. Designed and built analytics required to support campaign performance loopback (past results improve current execution). Designed and built model database for maintenance, tracking, trending and analysis of model scores – the model database maintains over 1 billion records. Designed and built on-demand reporting marts for the interface of Netezza with Cognos by marketing analysts. Mentored retailer developers for Netezza tuning and Netezza best practices. The new system allowed the retailer to execute campaigns faster and with higher degrees of personalization.All systems are fully instrumented with data controls and support both real time and batch analytics.

Provided technical leadership for architecture, design and development of new Oracle data warehouse at Cricket. This design addressed most key deficiencies from the prior data warehouse – data alignment, ETL performance, data quality and data controls. The data warehouse supports customer metrics and sales metrics. It provides a reporting interface, self-service reporting and also publication of metrics data to the financial systems. Interesting design challenges were late-arriving data, slowly changing facts (fact data goes from draft to final), exception handling and data quality issues. Provided architecture and design for back-end systems using Oracle 10G, Informatica, Oracle PLSQL to support both revenue calculation and revenue reporting. Most of these processes/subsystems also integrated with Oracle EBS. Architected and designed data controls and data quality measures across all Cricket data management systems. Developed Cricket’s data retention plan for enterprise databases (data warehouse and data management). Redesigned a key set of corporate activation metrics (as reported on Cricket’s financial statements) to improve the quality of the metrics.Designed and implemented a centralized SQL Server database for all corporate reference and meta data. This database provided all standard data about Cricket together with the characteristics. The database was used by both front-end and back-end systems. Provided technical leadership for the development of database standards for logical and physical databases (and also coding standards).Architected, designed and developed a custom inventory system to support inventory management for Cricket handsets and data cards. System was developed with SQL Server and Transact SQL. Provided full data management life cycle support (architecture, design, development, testing, deployment) for all Cricket OLTP databases supporting CRM functions (8 databases, over 400 tables).

Provided technical expertise and project management for design, development, management and operation of a data warehouse for cellular call flow data. The data warehouse provided data reporting and analysis capabilities for a custom web reports client for cellular operators, advertising agencies, advertisers and marketing personnel. The data warehouse was designed and developed using the Kimball methodology, and maintained call flow data for 10M calls (at Singapore) and 20M calls (at Hong Kong). The system was designed using Transact-SQL and SQL Server 7 on Windows NT servers. The data warehouse software included custom DTS scripts for data movement and Transact-SQL scripts for Extract-Transform-Load. Extensive optimization was performed to ensure timeliness of the data delivery, and optimized performance of the web queries.

Provided technical leadership and project management for design, development, management and operation of a financial data warehouse at the CAMS (Commerce Administrative Systems) Support Center for the Commerce Department (DOC). The data warehouse provided data reporting, analysis and ad hoc query capabilities for budget and expense data for the Census Bureau. It was designed and developed using the Kimball methodology, and maintained data for 100M General Ledger records (with related data) in an Oracle 8.1 database on a Digital Server. The data warehouse software was developed using Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Developer. Software developed included: ETL (Extract-Transform-Load), infrastructure (ETL/background job manager) and data warehouse client software. Extensive performance analysis and server/instance/application/SQL tuning ensured the optimized performance of both the database and the warehouse applications.
