I took a voluntary redundancy package from Arco in September 2009; due to company reorganisation. I worked upon a couple of short term projects within the safety/PPE industry.

As Branch Manager, I had full responsibility for the sales performance at the branch, via a second tier management team.I was responsible for all P&E at the branch, reporting to a regional sales director with links directly to the main board.Arco is a supplier of safety clothing and equipment, in the UK.Family owned since 1884, the company enjoyed a turnover of, in excess of £200 million.Within the product portfolio, clothing wass the largest and fastest growing product group, however the overall offer includes: Footwear, Gloves, PPE as well as Workplace Safety products [Hygiene, Tools, Site-Safety, Hygiene, and Janitorial Products etc].During my time as Branch Manager, sales had increased sales from £7 million to £10.4 million to the end of the financial year; February 2007, through increased awareness of customer needs as well as the sharpening of systems and working practices.Through continued improving controls on Branch expenditure, in the year; July 2007 to April 2008, training profit has increased by 17% year-on-year.Originally the West Bromwich site held £1 million worth of stock on site however continued work had seen this reduce to < £150k with improved sales achievement, through utilisation of centralized stock holding and better control of product sales promotion.One recent project had been to be instrumental in the locating of sites trading branch within the Central midlands area, including the first set of financial, turnover forecasts and P&E predictions.The Coventry site opened in March 2006 and the site in Stoke on Trent in early 2007.Arco Career; prior to Branch Manager:Having joined Arco Central in May 1990 as an SC&E sales representative, I inherited the worst performing area within the branch. Up to March 1995, I converted this area into the best performing by far.I was rewarded with promotions to Assistant Sales Manager, Sales Manager, Business Development Manager and Assistant Branch Manager over the next six years.
