Head of Technology Planning for Specsavers. The role was responsible for strategic Technology Planning at a global level, which includes Retail, Corporate and Supply Chain solutions.I worked for Specsavers as a Senior Manager for 17 years and progressed through several roles, including Infrastructure Manager, Global Architecture Manager, Head of Technology & Innovation to Head of Technology, Software & Integration. I was a member of the Enterprise Design Authority Responsible for Architecture design, standards and R&D within Specsavers. I was also part of the Specsavers Leadership team and had a wider Leadership role within Specsavers.I started my career with Software Development and Systems Integration companies in Cambridge, that include original "Cambridge phenomenon" High Tech companies, such as Torus Systems and NetConnect, both business's started by Cambridge Graduates.

As a senior member of the IT Executive Team, my responsibility was focused on the delivery of Specsavers global technology platforms, working with high caliber business delivery personnel ensuring targeted technologies with specific business benefits, delivering a consistent, cohesive platform to grow the business internationally.

Guernsey

I joined Specsavers in January 1999. The Guernsey HQ then had a highly complex IT infrastructure supporting at the time some 450 Guernsey based staff and 600 + Retail stores, 7,100 staff based in the UK, Ireland, Holland and Sweden.

NetConnect was a Systems Integration company based at the Cambridge Business Park and London. Stephen Bacon was a close personal friend at the time, his death at 47 was a tragic loss

NET-TEL was a familiar name in the IT industry and was recognised as a communication and networking software manufacturer. Specialising in messaging, OSI Email, X.400, X.500 and integration of complex mail environments.My role within NET-TEL was to provide consultancy, implementation and project management services.

I worked for NetConnect for Six years joining in 1989, left for two years and re-joined in January 1997 for a technical management position.

Torus was a software manufacturer of some fame. Torus provided the first Windows product for DOS, before Microsoft Windows. Known as Torus Tapestry.
