An experienced and adaptable ‘hands on' Manager who (following a radical ‘pivot’ from Information Technology into Aviation in 2004) has developed a successful, (second) career in the Australian aviation industry, leveraging a blend of planning, organisational, project management and client relationship building / business development skills.Prior to the ‘pivot’, my roots were in the Financial Markets/IT space in the UK, running technical project management and pre-sales teams across the UK/Europe and Asia Pacific regions, ultimately with Country Management responsibilities for the Japanese and Australian Markets. In my time in aviation, I have accumulated over 3,000 hrs flying experience, moved through several senior Business Development and General Management roles and have been instrumental in leading business and geographic diversification initiatives into commercial charter operations, securing major corporate clients in the telco, mining/exploration, energy generation/distribution and State Govt sectors, contributing to significant business growth in terms of aircraft assets, revenues and earnings during my tenure. I am passionate about creating value for customers and for the business and place great emphasis on culture, teamwork, safety, quality and standards - with an overarching commitment to customer satisfaction - which when all brought together, create a compelling proposition for any business and its customers.

Gm OperationsGbr Helicopters Jun 2016 - Dec 2018In 2016, with the Commercial business maturing and key staff in place, I resumed the oversight of the whole operation in the capacity of GM Operations. Both Tourism and Commercial divisions of the business continued to grow and additional aircraft were added to assist with the growth in the number of Chinese visiting the region. An almost 12 month process culminated in the sale of the Company to a publicly listed, tourism asset holding company.

Gm CommercialGbr Helicopters Nov 2014 - Jun 2016I relinquished other duties to focus entirely on the growth and development of the Commercial operation, and led the team’s focus into delivering significant advances in the maturity of the Company’s Safety and Quality frameworks - required to establish credibility in the highly safety sensitive environments that were being targeted. As a result of these efforts and a sustained business development effort, we were successful in securing significant contracts with global mining and exploration businesses, national telecommunications carriers, energy generation/distribution businesses and a number of State Government Departments and agencies. By this stage the Commercial Division of the business was contributing over 30% to the company’s total revenues and the fleet had grown in size to over 20 aircraft.

Director - Corporate DevelopmentGbr Helicopters Nov 2013 - Nov 2014Cairns, AustraliaI led the 'pivot' into Commercial Charter operations as a deliberate, strategic plan to diversify the business, to insulate it from the seasonal impacts of the tourism markets and provide an opportunity for significant growth. This lead to the establishment of an operational base in the Torres Strait and greatly increased volumes of business originating across the wider Cape York area. This was followed by significant contract wins that put the business on the trajectory to dominating the North Queensland region.
