Employed within the Lightning Force HQ (LFHQ), the Force Fleet Planner supports the LFHQ to optimize the safe generation, operation and sustainment of Lightning Force capability, and contribute to Operational planning and execution.

Discharging responsibilities with the full authority of Officer Commanding Engineering Wing HQ. As a focal point on Station, advising of any developing situation which may affect the fulfilment of the engineering or flying task; Liaising with the flying squadrons and other relevant sections on to ensure, as far as possible, that spares and other equipment requirements are met.

Responsible for ensuring that the annual Military Airworthiness Reviews of the Tornado GR4 fleet are undertaken for certification, on behalf of the Tornado GR4 Military Continuing Airworthiness Manager, IAW Military Airworthiness Authority (MAA) Regulatory Articles 4971 to 4974.

Responsible for managing all aspects of Aircraft Electrical and Avionic maintenance, equipment support and Avionic personnel (numbering 47 tradesman) ensuring the availability of the Tornado GR4 aircraft.

Employed firstly at RAF Lossiemouth (until 2010) and then at RAF Marham following the merger of 'Unit' level fleet planning into a combined 'Strategic Fleet Planning' function within the Tornado Integrated Logistics Operations Centre (ILOC). My role was to ensure aircraft availability to the flying Squadrons to meet both UK and detached flying requirements.

Responsible for the supervision and overall management of the LITS support cell at RAF Lossiemouth, providing a local help-desk to solve hardware and application issues across the Station and provide training for non-LITS users.

Responsible for providing training of all Electrical/Avionic Trade personnel at RAF Lossiemouth in the safe operation and fault diagnosis of the Tornado GR4 'Armament Control System'. Role undertaken in parallel SNCO LITs role.

Employed in the rank of Corporal at Tornado Propulsion Flight (RAF Coningsby) and 14 Squadron (RAF Lossiemouth), responsible for leading a team undertaking maintenance and repair of Tornado IDS RB199 engine elctrical harnesses.

Employed in the rank of Junior Technician at Tornado Aircraft Servicing Flight (RAF Marham), 17(F) Squadron (RAF Bruggen) and 22 Sqn Search & Rescue (RMB Chivenor).
